The consortium of EXCEPT project met in Tallinn for the kick-off meeting un 18-20 of June 2015.

The teams were welcomed by the Rector of Tallinn University Tiit Land and the coordinator of EXCEPT Marge Unt. As it was the first time most of the consortium met personally, everybody had a chance to introduce themselves. After the welcome on the first day of the meeting project coordinator Marge Unt and co-coordinator Michale Gebel gave an overview of the project objectives and led a discussion about basic conceptual definitions– youth, social exclusion, labour market exclusion, job insecurity, risk groups.

During the first two days of the meeting all work package leaders had a chance to introduce their tasks. Special emphasis was given to WPs 1 (conceptual framework and identification of risk groups) and 3 (development and implementation of qualitative interviews of youth) as those were the first to start after the meeting. The discussion benefited from the presence of our advisory board member Triin Bõstrov, a Vice Chairman of the Board of Estonian National Youth Council, and also Kristiina Kamenik from Estonian Ministry of Social Affairs.

Some organizational issues were also addressed to ensure common understanding of procedures regarding financial matters and communication within the consortium.

Afterhours there were events planned to facilitate creating a positive working climate for the future: members of the consortium visited Estonian Open Air Museum’s rural buildings and in its tavern had a taste of Estonian traditional cuisine and enjoyed traditional dance. Also there was an excursion organized in Tallinn medieval old-town which was interesting despite the exceptionally cold summer temperatures and rain.
