On 16th of January the EXCEPT team at Tallinn University invited representatives of the Ministry of Social Affairs as well as the Unemployment Insurance Fund to participate in a seminar to introduce the EXCEPT project findings. The invitation was well received and several high-level policy makers attended the event. The seminar started with the discussion of different methodologies developed to profile the unemployed, followed by the presentations of the EXCEPT project and its findings. Firstly, Marge Unt gave a short overview of the project’s objectives. Then Eve-Liis Roosmaa introduced the report on social exclusion of youth. Lastly, Epp Reiska talked about the perceptions and experiences of our interviewees with the Unemployment Insurance Fund, drawing attention to shortcomings and forwarding the suggestions of youth straight to the people who have the possibility to change practices of the UIF. The closing comments by the seminar participants assured that everybody had food for thought for the future.
