Youth Unemployment and insecure Jobs: What is their impact on European Youth in terms of Wellbeing & Health and long-term Economic Consequences?

13.09.2017

Kerstin Wilde, Project Advisor from the European Commission in the Research Executive Agency, presented EXCEPT on Thursday, September 7th, 2017, in a team meeting. Focus was on EXCEPT´s research concept, mixed methods and the first research outcomes: She presented how Young People in the EU face their individual situation of a macro-economic problem - and which impact it has on their health and wellbeing.

The presentation underlined as well that short-sighted decisions from governments translate in many cases directly into old-age precariat for Young Persons when it comes to their pension calculations. And even mobility, which is often praised for being a condition in our modern labour markets (mobility between employers, sectors, EU-member states) is taken into account only to a limited degree by public or occupational pension calculations…

"Much to do for Member States…" would some Young People say – and probably, they would be right…
